Initially there will just be one MIDI Playback Device displayed, which will have the Device Name 'MIDI'.
Properties and Controls
MIDI Playback Devices
Device Name Used in Cues: Enter the name you want to use for the device in your cues, such as 'Roland' (assuming you have a Roland MIDI Sound Module). With MIDI outputs you are more likely to want to refer to the external device than to 'Front of House', etc.
MIDI Playback Device: For each line with a 'Device Name Used in Cues' you must select from the drop-down list a MIDI playback device to process (receive) the sound cues. The entries available in the list will depend on the installed devices and possibly whether or not they are connected and switched on. As well as an external devices you will probably have the Microsoft software synthesizer, listed as 'Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth'. If SCS finds two or more MIDI playback devices with the same name, it appends '#1' to the name of the first, '#2' to the second, and so on.
